How to get Customer's Attention

If you want to win the customer’s attention, first you need to know the product very well. Product knowledge is vital. If you know the product, you have the confidence to answer any questions relating to it. When you talk with confidence and enthusiasm, you will win the customer’s attention.
When I sell products, I familiarize myself with them and know the features and benefits inside out. When customer ask questions relating to that product or service, I feel so enthusiastic and sound so positive that customers give their full attention to what I am saying, and I win them over easily.

Secondly, your presentation is vital to get the customer’s attention. If your voice is good, if the words you choose make sense and you communicate clearly, customers will love listening to you. Many times when I am listening to an audio or video presentation, if the voice is attractive, resonant and confident, I listen with my whole body. But if the voice is screechy, I will turn off the tape immediately. Even if the substance is good, I do not want to listen. The same tendency applies to you. If your voice is screechy or a monotone, it will be very hard to get the attention of the customer.

Thirdly, if you are talking to a residential customer, talk about their family rather than about your achievements as a super salesperson. No one wants to know about you. Customers do not buy the salesperson; instead, they buy for safety, security, pride, prestige, etc. So tell them how the product will help them and their family. Once you start talking about their family, they will get interested in talking to you.

Another great skill is asking questions and listening. Ask relevant questions and listen carefully. The more questions you ask, the more answers you get from the customer which will build rapport and in turn will get 100% attention from the customer. If you follow these principles you will sell more and get your customer’s attention any time you want.
